Just got my bill, sports programming surcharge went up another $2, total is about $5/month now ($3 surcharge was introduced about a year ago). This will not end, thank god FiOS trucks are here and Cablevision monopoly is about to end.

I don't watch and care about sports, but I wonder if all sports fan are ready to keep industry running with players (and few around) salaries in millions getting (figuratively, unlike the rest) fatter while 99% support that by sacrificing health, education etc.

Pretty lame. I am a big baseball nut and watch every Mets game (and Yanks, MLB network..etc) so I just have to deal with it. Every cable provider has little fees and surcharges and stuff. Time Warner actually has a modem fee if you use their modem (a few bucks a month) though you at least have a choice to use your own modem if you wish.

If only there were more choices in providers. There is no FIOS where I live in the Bronx so its Cablevision or just use over the air TV.
