For me it has to be the parks scattered all around the city, my favourite being Bryant park.
Other than the above I love the noise and energy.

Several things about New York would constitute "my favorite part of New York" and it's hard to just pick one.

I think it's that New York is overall such a deep city. It may not be all that big in land area (300 square miles) but it's hyper-density and built up nature makes it such a massive place to explore, it can take years to a lifetime actually seeing everything the city has to offer. It has so many subgenre of cultures, so many subcultures, I visited someone there (some cousins) when I was a kid, and it seemed like just about every apartment unit had a story on to its own.

NYC is cool when you are young and strong. When you get older you just don't want to put up with the hassles of everyday life there. I'm not that old...it just wore me out I guess.
