Is there a day of the week that is less crowded than others?

I would think a Tuesday would be a good day. But it also depends on which dmv you go to.

The one in lower Manhattan was what I thought. I haven't been there since the 80s so I don't remember quite where it was. But maybe going to an outer borough one would be less crowded too.

Check DMV site because not all DMV's do licences now. Only specifically designated ones handle licenses.

Some DMVs stay open later on Thursdays.

The one in lower manhattan allows appointments- I went on a tuesday and I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. You just have to make an appointment so you don't have to wait in line.

It's funny you said that. I actually had a very brief and good experience at the DMV, on a Tuesday. (Lunch Hour)

I was checking out the NYS DMV website and they take "reservations" for transactions at a particular office. Anyone know what that means? Express service when you get there?
