Snore. Mayor de Blasio has already established himself as the city's greatest mayor since LaGuardia. Can't wait to see what Bill gets named after him after his reign ends.

In case everyone has forgotten, there is always a big increase in shootings on holiday weekends in NYC, no matter who is mayor.

Here is a piece on traditional NYC holiday weekend violence from a few years ago under a different mayor and police commissioner:

2 Cops Among 67 Shot in Weekend Violence; Teen and 56-Year-Old Bystander Killed | NBC New York

The only thing remarkable about the latest spate of violence is that none of it happened in The Bronx.

The WI "Festival" has always been a bloodbath. Especially the pre Jouvet the night before. The funny thing is watching the news and none of it being reported. I do agree with Denis Brown, that the summer historically sees crime spikes. Give the mayor 2 years to really see if policies have a correlation on crime.

In NYC the bulk of crimes happen in the hood.
De Blasio signed a binding agreement that was accepted by federal courts. The first judge's ruling was that even if Stop and Frisk lowered crime, it was unconstitutional in it's application. De Blasio canceled the appeal and settled out of court with the plaintiffs, and bound the city to the first judge's ruling permanently.

If someone is so so worried about what happens in the hood areas, that person should MOVE OUT OF THEM and DON'T go there. It's that simple. Waiting for the cops rush to the rescue is plain idiotic. A police force no matter who the mayor is more reactive than anything else.

Ah, the summer is only just beginning. But you're right, it's been a cold winter particularly so people had to stay in during the summer. Things will get worse when high school is out, so look for things to be worse in July and August. Even June should be worse (it's summertime!)

Moving out doesn't solve lowering crime or shootings. Stop & Frisk needs to return. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, most likely its a duck. Just saying.

Fearmongers. When people are getting shot and stabbed in good neighborhoods then you have a story. Look at where these crimes happened. Harlem (Grant Houses). East New York. What else is new?
