There are other factors that have nothing to do with who the mayor is that need to be brought into consideration. There's a big explosion in heroine use and at least some of this crime may be traced to the heroine trade.
The usual bad neighborhoods are being hit hard (Bronx, upper Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn), etc.
After the summer is over, the stats of this year can be compared to last year. Crime may very well be up.

Good point. But it doesn't matter the reason. If murders and shooting soar, De Blasio will get the blame, rightly or wrongly.
All I'm saying is, bring Stop & Frisk back like it was before. All these shootings and crime are predominately happening in "hood" areas. Who live in "hood" areas? Mainly black people and latinos. So doing stop & frisk in these high crime areas should not be considered "discrimination" by the left as you step up enforcement where crime is a problem. In NYC the bulk of crimes happen in the hood.

Still to early to know. But if I were a betting man, I would bet that the ending of stop and frisk will have disasterous consequences. I really hope it doesn't.

I agree. The fear factor for these animals are gone.

Those who wanted to end stop and frisk always cited statistics indicating that the policy rarely found weapons on those being stopped and frisked. But they were not thinking it through.
Criminals were leaving their weapons at home because of fear of being stopped and frisked. Possession of an illegal handgun in NYC could result in several years in prison.

Oh well.
Exactly! That is what was happening. S&F was discouraging these thugs from carrying their weapons. Now without S&F they can do that as they please. And now 8 people were shot and stabbed!
Its summertime, been this way in every major city in this country before most of the people posting here were born. Next topic...
