There is a website for apts in NYC for when roomates move out, no fee. Best way for someone on a low income like you is to hope someone with a rent stablized two bedroom roomate moves out and you jump in.
We're not talking about 25k

If OP can't find an apartment with 70k, he has no idea what he's doing. Get some more realistic requirements.

This too. $70,000 is more than the vast majority of Americans make in a year. Its a good income anywhere including here. Typically you need a very marketable skill set and be good and what you do before anybody considers paying anybody that much to do anything.

that is why there are some not so nice responses here.

I personally know people who were able to buy a nice 1 bedroom in a very nice area in the outer boroughs with far less than 70k a year.. All it took was some aggressive savings & a little luck.

A lot of entry level jobs pay this salary in NYC. Of course, they are competitive to get, but its not like 70k in NYC is like "I've made it"

I will check out NakedApartments and see whats on there....

There are, of course, entry level jobs which pay a lot more than 70k (e.g. software engineering), just as there are plenty which you have to have worked for a number of years before you can sniff 70k (e.g. publishing).

2bd/2br apts in Manhattan for 3.6k - they exist, but good luck finding one. And paying 1800 for rent on a 70k salary is not something which I would do or would recommend that anyone do, but I'm sure that a significant number of people spend a greater proportion of their income on rent in this city.
