Quite a shame. Crime is part of NYC's area. We are the city that invented crime.
I know right. I was thinking NYC has lost its touch. Why can't we have some of the torched buildings and rampant gang violence, graffiti, and subway crimes like the days of old?
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I am amazed that some consider a city with parts that resemble the third world or are uninhabitable by normal people's standards aside from those who have no choice but are still sane and moral as the greatest city on earth or the Cradle of Civilization. Of course the most pristine societies have had problems, but their problems were manageable and understandable.
Oh wait, this gang and crime problem is understandable. After all, it's all our fault!
I can hear the whining bleeding hearts protest. "We as a society failed them." "We put them in this situation." "What they gonna do? They got no choice!" "If you not part of the solution, you part of the problem!"
Not sure if the third world would have these government funded housing projects.

Ah, knew someone would give me a zinger on that when I used the term "third world", though I was thinking more of the zinger, "It doesn't look like they're living in mudhuts or starving" as if that is required to consider "third world" conditions.
I guess fear of safety, regular senseless violence, rape, high levels of illiteracy, metal detectors in schools, rampant drug use, and the like are signs of first world living.
Would you be more satisfied with the term "second world"?
I heard A LOT of helicopters flying over Manhattan this morning, was it this? I was hoping to see Apaches or some military formation but could only hear them.
I'm a bit sad to only see 2 animals caged over such a large operation
I don't think they could get away with a raid like this in privately owned buildings.
Can and do around here.
The owners need to cooperate, which they do because there are big plans with benefits for the investors and developers.
And the raid happened because the Columbia buildings will begin opening soon enough.
Note: I am not complaining. Just pointing out the facts.
Nothing to do with the girl who was shot, who, by the way, was hanging out on the streets at 3 AM or something. This happens every day here. It usually does not make the news.
Knew something was up, because that 'Tower of Power' stayed stagnant on 125th near Manhattan Avenue, and still was there as of a few days ago. NYPD aint playing. Imma need them to implement more of these raids in NYCHA more often.

It happened because gentrifiers are moving to the area and they want to clean house.
NYPD wouldnt give a damn about gang activity if no one wanted to live on that side of Manhattan.
