So, I'm in college and my GF is a proud Brooklynite, anyway, when I went to visit her I was pretty culture shocked, wow that's a diverse borough ! Anyone want to go further in depth on the culture of Brooklyn? Thanks in advance for contributions to the thread. BTW, love the accents.
Only spotty areas, Brooklyn is still a huge melting pot. I don't see any hipsters or transplants in the areas I frequent.
This is a good point and one I rarely see. "Brooklyn" has become this international brand of coolness, but for me, the name evokes neighborhoods that were deeply unhip when I was a kid and are still unhip today.
My 96-year-old great aunt died recently, and I drove her very, very old cousin to the funeral. As we were driving back to her house afterwards, he was telling me how he'd heard Brooklyn was getting fashionable, so he thought my cousins, who inherited the house, would probably make a ton of money selling it. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it wasn't this Brooklyn he'd been hearing about.
You beat me to it! Just what I was going to respond!
Brooklyn is quite large so the culture would depend on what area you're referring to.
