NY cannot suspend your NJ license, but the state can suspend your privilege to drive in NY. This means if you get pulled over here again, you will show as suspended in this state and will be arrested. The state will actually assign you a NY driver's license number, then suspend it. When the cop runs your NJ license or checks you by name, you'll pop.

I have a friend from NY who is banned from driving in VT. I am assuming NYS can do the same for some NJ drivers.

If you owe money from a traffic infraction in the state where a driver got that ticket, you can be hauled to jail or have your car impounded at the next pull over.

The more people banned from driving the better. Far too many idiots on the roads.
