I don't understand NYC politicians' obsession with banning sodapop. The way they act you'd think NYC had a huge obesity problem, but after doing a bit of research I found that NYC has next-to-nothing obesity.

Atlanta is one city that should probably ban soda but I think there would be riots if they tried that.

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with health.

A lot of people praised the smoking bans but they were too blinded to see what doors they opened. The Govt. used the broad spectrum of "health" to lure people in.

The frightening thing about the soda ban is by and large soda is benign. We all know that sugar is bad for you but most of us are bright enough not to over indulge. So why attack SODA when you can easily kill yourself with trans fat butter salt ***CANDY tobacco prescription meds processed foods. WHY ?

BECAUSE soda is closer to your doorstep than you think. Soda is something we see everyday. We are getting conditioned to accept more and more of these intrusions into our lives. Soda represents something so COMMON that when the next ban comes we will think nothing of it.

It's a form of conditioning but FOR WHAT ? That is the scary part.

(Hint for the beginning of your re-education process: Nazis and socialists are opposites. That's why Hitler had socialists and communists thrown into gas chambers. That's why Hitler invaded Russia and killed millions of Communists. If you have never heard of Hitler, he was the Nazi with the ugly mustache.)
The Nazis were a National Socialist Party run by a dictator named Adolf Hitler.

I don't know where you're getting this from. It was rejected by the last court they could appeal to.

I am really disappointed to see De Blandsio continuing this trend. I fear the left as much as I do the right.

This is bad news.

It's not the fact that it was turned down. My point is WHY didn't De Blasio just let it die with the Bloomberg term. WHY did he revive it ?

There has to be an agenda behind it and I seriously believe it has to do with softening us up for more of these types of bans. A guy like De Blasio with the multi ethnic family who shovels his own snow wants you to be banned from buying large sodas. Come on the two sides don't fit. There is an agenda with these types of bans.

Whether it goes through in or not is another thing but the fact that he is trying to push this through says a lot.

Nej, I drink tons of lemon water. Soda is a social drink for me and I stick to my quota usually.

Mind your own business. I don't like healthy food or beverages, and if I die young it will be my own fault, not that of the government.
I don't agree with all government regulations but I have been hoping for strong regulations on the consumption of purified sugar. Look at those severely diabetic patients...it is not a matter of life or death, but issues of quality of life, chronic suffering, and burden on all other members. It takes smart brains to see through such issues, and I don't blame you if you could not see through it on your own...all you need to do is follow what the regulations say.

Most of us? maybe not. Addiction is something that one knows is bad but does not have the mental power to pull out of it on one's own, that is when external force/help is needed in the form of governmental regulations. The detrimental health effect of soda does not come from sugar alone. The carbonate erodes the bone slowly but surely.

WOW. Why can't the external force be a friend ***doctor or family member ? The Govt. needs to slap you around as a reminder to take care of yourself ? What happens if you pick up a salt addiction. Who is going to get you out of that hole ?

This is the type of thinking going on in this country that FREAKS ME OUT. I don't get it.
