People,
Could you please let me know if there is a huge traffic on Manhattan from Canal street (Chinatown) to Lafayette Ave to brooklyn bridge from 6 pm to 8 pm?

There is always huge traffic around that time during weekday, especially Friday. Its rush hour and that part connects NJ (Holland) to Manhattan to Brooklyn. It sucks.

unfortunately I have to pay for GWB $11 a day toll and don't have anything to make this payment less. Do you know how can I do it to save money? May be partially somehow? The only way I thought about was Tappan zee bridge tall $5 + partial toll $1.25 and then go to Harlem pkwy - Canal streett - Brooklyn bridge.

Thanks,
Oleg

No. I go down Canal st almost everyday around that time to either the manhattan or williamsburg bridges and there is usually no traffic on canal. The traffic will be on the actual bridge but not on canal. The brooklyn is by far the worst of the 3 bridges.

There isnt that much traffic on canal st after you clear lafayette because it's 2 lanes going up and down. I would take the manhattan bridge instead since it goes directly from canal

It is horrific.
I had to drive the whole length of Canal twice a day for 6 months.
Suicidal.

I recall finding slightly better side street routes to get from the Holland Tunnel to the Brooklyn Bridge...but still terrible.

It's awful, you may want to consider the Battery Park underpass and then coming up the FDR to the Bklyn Bridge
