So some Sanitation Workers never get to do garbage collection? Hmm, I take it there are alot of jobs within DSNY? I was under the impression garbage collection in the trucks where the backbone and main job of DSNY. So if I get hired I can be placed on assignments completely away from refuse collection? Is there a list of jobs within DSNY so I can furthur educate myself?
Also, I am positive I scored a 105 on this exam, I really want to be apart of DSNY however a gut feeling tells me scoring a 105 still wont solidify a hire.
You'll start with some form of truck work whether you're doing collection or picking up baskets or litter. Driving snow equipment in winter, handbroom, backpack blower etc. More time you have, more options you have.
Further educate? Nah nothing there really. You can take tests when available for the next two positions. After that it's who you blow....I mean know
a friend of mine has his Physical Test scheduled for Thursday in Long Island City. has anyone had their Physical Test postponed because of snow this winter? any info on the rescheduling process if the test is cancelled that day?
Love how the 2007 exam got extended so much! Makes me wish I took that exam instead of partying all day and night with friends! Lol.
There were no hirings for almost 2 1/2 years off our exam. That isn't going to happen with yours. It all works out in the end. Whats amazing is the people who have had 8 years to get prepared & are STILL not ready should they be called. Boggles the mind

And yell at me that they don't have a cdl when a November class becomes a rumor when I said it won't happen
Do any of you guys know a good place that teaches you to drive trucks or helps you out for the CDL road test?
