My co-worker from Iowa says you pull this knockout game where he comes from and someone will pull the trigger way before you get the fists thrown.
There's 8 million people who live here. There've been what - a dozen knock out incidents total in how many years? And all in the hood. People on the outside looking in usually have no clue what goes on here
Two silent headpunch assaults in Crown Heights yesterday injured two Jews - a 24 year old and a little 9 year old boy. Both are being investigated as possible hate crimes.
Last November, an AA councilwoman rationalized CH knockout incidents by referring to feelings of "frustration" over Jewish "success" as a contributing "reason" for this type of crime.
I hope nobody's jealous of the elderly or the pregnant.

If a sociopathic crime occurs in a poor neighborhood, does that mean it's of less concern?
It's a crime with no motive or reward except perhaps some uptick in status with thuggy peers. It isn't about someone mugging a stranger for a wallet, or shooting someone you know to settle a score.
It's a terrible thing. It doesn't help to whoosh it away by saying, "oh, it happened in the hood."
BTW, one incident was in the West Village.
I know people get tired of caring about crimes in other neighborhoods than their own, but to me this is a completely different kind of crime. I feel like it should trouble people no matter where they live because everyone knows someone who is old or pregnant (but usually not both).
Well, I guess the large number of views here does show concern. Maybe there's just not much to say on the topic.
