Christmas, originally the Pagan Blood Ceremony of Yule, was originally celebrated with grotesque hedonistic excess, so even with attempts to veneer it with a Christianized facade, it still remains true to the spirit of its essentially pagan origins.

There's also nothing particularly anti-Biblical about corporate sponsorship or corporate enterprise per se. Concern may be raised if the corporations engage in morally dubious activities, but even then, the counter to that would be that contributing money to some identifiably good cause would be morally preferable to not contributing anything at all.

This is completely false. This is one of the reasons why the previous pope was "excused" because he insisted that if people want to be Catholics in good standing they could not be divorced. Period. If they were divorced they could repent by going back to the spouse they were divorced from, and live as husband and wife. That was/is the only solution.

Understanding the writings from history and reli*gious institution involves consideration of concepts and language within their historical and cultural context. The bible was written before the Enlightenment, and long before the Scientific Revolution. The church forbade the belief that the earth was round, thus why Galileo was tortured. So, certainly the people had no understanding of the organic nature of sexual orientation. Sexual orientation whether heterosexual or homosexual is innate, not a choice as implied. The focus was very strict on breeding and multiplying, thus such strong scripture against fornication, adultery and birth control/onanism. There was no concern for the children born to a mother or parents that could not adequately take care or feed them. Bible thumpers can thump all they want, but our society is becoming more and more secular whether they like it or not, and with every generation, more people continue to leave the church.

So, what is your point Blake? Ever hear of Mardi Gras? Very similar to a Gay Pride celebration, it is a celebration of liberation. In this case, why not equate Mardi Gras celebrations as sensationalistic events that depict the typical moderate heterosexual? If your going to be fair. What makes you think gays who participate in St Patrick's Day parade are going to be as sensational? And you focus on only a few of the more sensationalized characters anyway. in reality, most gay pride parades today are very boring, not with all the glitz of years ago, with most of the contingents belonging to churches, police sororities, colleges and universities gay groups, motor cycle groups, bands, and other professionals, etc. yawn.

In what world is St. Patrick's Day about celebrating liberation and throwing pearls around topless women? ST. Pat's is about Irish pride and green everything. If you want an idea of what the parade will look like with special interest groups flaunting their causes, just look at tape from the Sunnyside parade last year. Half the marchers had no green and were promoting whatever the heck they wanted. The gay pride parts and transvestites couldn't be bothered to show anything St. Patrick's related because they were too busy adjusting their outerwear underwear

There's a drag queen named Hedda Lettuce who always wears green wigs. I guess she'll headline, and the other drag queens will wear green wigs, green lipstick, green eye shadow, green nail polish, and green high heel shows. Does that make you happy?

And I'm sure there are plenty of gay Irish who are happy to march.

But as I said, St. Patrick's holiday was paid for not by money from God, but from corporations and so the organizers had no choice but to respect their wishes IF they wished to get future funding.

"My Laws are my Father's Laws". Jesus Christ

"Commit no adultery" was in the Law. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery "Go and sin no more."

It is still a sin to commit a homosexual act.

I said most, not all Mosaic Laws, under the covenant that was fulfilled by Christ. Many Mosaic customs, such as the foundational imperatives, the Ten Commandments, the condemnation of sexual iniquity, obviously still carried on with the authority of the Spirit.
