Lol...could it be that your site does not have the up to the minute all encompassing information? Or maybe it is on some other site? Its really moot at this point.

And the word progress should not be in quotes....if you dont call it progress...what is it then?

As for Seventh...as I said before..you should walk the beat and not only get your info from the internet. If you were to go by that location, you would note that there is slightly more than HVAC work going on!!! As for the 858,000 development in Melrose...I suggest doing the same....you will be greeted with bulldozers and contractors....but then again....you have your internet site that must be right! Lol...

The reason why I brought up the race issue, which I typically prefer not to, is because the supposed gentrification (its really redevlopment) that is occuring in the Bronx is being driven by people of color, not the yuppies and hippes that make headlines in the NYTimes.

The Bronx is returning to the vision that it always was....a source of affordable housing for the working and middle classes...the backbone of the city. That function was perverted by the government, inept/destructive social programs, and extreme segregation and isolation. The city and its residents have since changed course and are now reinstating the Bronx as the borough of inclusion....and is working actively to build true affordable housing for ALL people..not just the poor....but for the workign and middle classes. That was the original purpose of the Bronx..and that is now the future of the borough.
Hmmm, I think I may have to check the Bx out when I am home next. Last time I was up, a family friend kept trying to get me to put my name on a waiting list for Coop city, I was like nah, im good. I always had a thing against Bx. But reading what your saying, maybe its time I get over that and really give it a look.

nahh trust me its up to date....soon as something is approved or filed in the system @ the DOB it automatically shows up on the website, everything is linked. if you go to the main website you can see everything that was filed today up to right this moment. this is how stuff is kept track of. i'm in the business so dont question me on that one. and the reason why i put progress in quotes is because if the proper procedure isnt being taken to make these new developments happen then its actually a hinderance to improving the area.

Wild Style...you should note that I am a longtime Mott Haven resident....and I get excited over a new tree planting...so you should take everyone's posts with a grain of salt.

That being said, the developments I speak of are occuring, and the Bronx is changing dramatically. You should google the "Yankee Stadium redevelopment zone" and see the dramatic changes occuring there alone...its impressive. Add to that the huge developments going in around 161st and 3rd ave in Melrose (not far from Yankee Stadium), as well as all the new retail, commercial, and residential investment and amenities entering the market...and you can see whats happening.

Alot has/is changing...but at the end of the day...those darn projects are still there...and so are mcuh of the same dummies doing the same dumb stuff. So you have to have the vision and forsight to look past the BS to see the changes happening.

As for Co-Op city...I am not a big fan of that place overall....it looks like the housing projects to me....but Soviet Style. It is FAAAAR from the city and the commute is sucky.....since I am a city person it just does not make sense. If you genuinely want to see the Bronx...and Mott Haven in particular....I seem to be holding walking tours every so often....all I ask is a beer (or 5).....let me know if you are interested.

Seventh..I will always question you on everything....so get used to it...as should everyone else....at this point you are nothing more than an internet profile...and you could in reality be a 13 year old living in Bangladesh just phukking with everyone...especially if your only source of information is from the internet...suspicious to say the least. So you will always be questioned!

Nonetheless you are good for the forum because you are active...and keep the Bronx active...so it works for me!

ok so if you wont believe the internet, then do me a favor since you live in the area and go to 300 east 149th street and tell me if you see any department of buildings work permits posted on site.

SuperMario..while you are at it..be sure to post the latest violence in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn....so that we can get an accurate gauge of violence everywhere. It can be that the violence you see in the Bronx, and the tremont area in particular is miniscule compared to other areas and borughs in the city..which would make the Bronx, in comparison, "safer." Let's not just post random violence without also putting it into perspective.....right?

well he's just posting on something that happened in the neighborhood....the vets on this board know that there are other neighborhoods in the city that have similar rates of crime to tremont. so i think its general knowledge. nobody's trying to paint a negative picture of the bronx. more like an accurate picture. and other neighborhoods, when asked about them, are covered in other posts....to have comparing crime stats for everywhere else anytime somebody posts about the bronx is ridiculous and time-consuming.
