that should be east because all the numbered streets have the east designation. when it comes to geography in the bronx, the only people that actually identify themselves accurately are northeast. cause if u ask somebody from baychester where they live they'll tell you northeast. if u ask me, when it comes to planning the bronx is ****ed anyway. it follows manhattan so its west side is what like 10-15 blocks wide. and then again the streets are so ****ed up that 207th street in manhattan is fordham rd in the bronx, but whats the block after fordham? isnt it 188th? i take it for what it is.

Well if you do believe that Jerome divides it ( GC for me)...give or take a couple of blocks, I'd still consider them west. But there more central than east definitely.
When I've been on Creston, to me it feels no difference then when im in Davidson. Everything from the Concourse west is all really alike.

Yes, I agree.
188th in the Bronx is 207th in Manhattan.
183rd on University is 1 block from Fordham, albeit a long block.
183rd on Crotona is 4 blocks from Fordham, decent sized blocks.
Then the east side doesn't use street designations, but the west does.
Don't even get me started on the south Bronx confusion.

I live in the Bronx the community of Throgs Neck and I will have to admit the place seems to be slowly going downhill. In this once low density community developers are and have been building many multifamily homes and it is effecting the quality of life of our neighborhood. In our community we have a very large housing project which has always caused problems and it's isolation is a godsend but now many of the new residents are just as bad living off section 8. They dirty the neighborhood, paint graffiti, drink and smoke marijuana in front of their homes. It is especially bad for me since I own a corner home and have to routinely paint over graffiti sprayed on my fence and deal with the new locals blasting rap music. This has been ongoing and it is not getting better only worse. When I call the 45th precinct to respond to loud music or other disturbances they never show up. I honestly feel like I live in the ghetto at times. I understand our problems may be miniscule compared to most other areas in the Bronx but we deserve the same level of service or better since we are mostly homeowners. Still I pay too much money to have to deal with this. I am seriously considering leaving New York City. I would also rather complain now before things get out of hand. We have already seen an increase in violent crime in the area. A lot of the local youth have been breaking into cars and robbing people. Even burglaries have been on the rise. Throgs Neck is no ghetto but it has been going downhill thanks to all the over development and section 8 people moving in. Those areas receiving the impact program are awful though thank God I don't live there. I worked on Fordham Road from 1990 until 2005, those neighborhoods are horrible and need a lot of help.

BXwarrior...I suggext instead of moving out...you should be more vigilant...calling 311 WHENEVER rap music is blasted, and calling the police EVERYTIME there is defacing of your property as it IS a crime. Installing a camera will in all likelihood stop the graffitti and provide you with much peace of mind.
I understand your concern with section 8 tenants moving into the neighborhood...as this wave of people have been swarming througout the Bronx..and as LL/Property Owners decide to move...they rather rent to section 8 as the exorbitant rents the city pays to house these people and live off the rent somewhere else....with the neighborhood the last thing on their minds. Maybe you can organize a community association to deal with the problem rather than running like everyone else? The running from these types of problems is why much of the city is in the pickle..run run run....the problems just get worse for everyone else who is here.
Just my 2 cents.
