Landlord was a thief, got caught and paid the price...
He should have been jailed as well.

Shame it is only one crooked landlord in 100 who are caught.

PS...not an oversight by the city but rather a slap on the wrist for the landlord who should have had to pay the $104,000 judgment up front.

I used to walk past that building all the time- really pretty but a lot of it had been burned out and still didn't appear repaired fairly recently.

At standard increases that unit would likely be the last held out rent stabilized building in all of NYC.

Sucks for everyone else though.

So why didn't the "Tonges" fight to get back in?
Where did all their furniture go?
Was it fully empty and they moved to temp housing?

The man paying the dollar had some nerve to sue, and our courts that awarded him 104K is even more dispickeable. the LL is also scum.
