I've mentioned some other forums a few times. When people have asked about specific neighborhoods I have often suggested that they go and see what the people living in those neighborhoods are talking about. There's not really one specific place to find them, but two places that link to them are the "blogroll" on this site
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/ - you have to page down on the right to find it. Also for queens a good place to find these listed is on
www.queens.about.com .
They're really only helpful if you already have an idea about where you want to focus your time. Otherwise, there's just too much stuff out there.
