Not sure where youa re coming from Jped, but Throggs Neck overall is extremely suburban, and a car is a MUST. If you are commuting to the city it will either be very long via a bus to the 6 train, then a long train ride to the city, or an expensive and long commute via one of the express buses, or a hellish and expensive drive by car (+ parking costs).

The area has lots of amenities and some decent catholic schools. It is close to Pelham bay Park....and an easy commute to shopping in Westchester by car. It is very residential and pedestrain friendly....you can have a nice yard, front lawn..and garage. Overall the lifestyle is one of the suburbs (as is the commute to the city) and not very urban. The people mostly are old school Italian...so you have the guido and guidettes...which are harmless...but can be annoying. Its strange to see the big hair of the 80s alive and well when walking the area!

Overall I would say it is a decent place to live if you seek the suburban lifetsyle within city limits. If you commute to the city it is a pain in the a$$....but it is a very liveable area.

It's one of the nicer nabes of the Bronx; however, as earlier stated, it's far from everything. It looks like the houses are attached one family homes with a one car driveway in front and a small backyard. You're basically closer to Queens than anything in the Bronx. It really depends on where you'll be working, but commuting into Manhattan may be a pain. If you're working in the Bronx, Westchester or northern Queens, it may not be as bad - of course, given that you will be driving.

Nice area, but the commute to NYC is a pain. Relatively safe except for the blocks immediately around the Projects (ie corner of Randall and East Tremont which is where the "hood" element loiters). Other than that nice convenient to to the highway and good restaurants. Where else are you looking?

Property value might go up if they ever build the golf course in ferry point park

Thanks for all the feedback, this is actually a perfect location for me I work in the Bronx and do not really travel into the city too much, particularly via MTA.

i just wanted to get a feel for how safe an area this is.

Again thanks to all that replied.
