Kids can only work limited hours during the school year. No business can survive off teenage labor alone.

BTW, a lot of the franchise owners started as workers in other franchise outlets, worked their way up to management, and got offered their own franchises.
I was blessed to become a successful person in life and be able to own a decent car and live in house. I got my start as a high schooler at Mc Donald's.

These companies aren't bad to work for if you have some ambition and drive. Management in a corporate owned McDonalds can actually earn a nice salary and some go on to even bigger opportunities like international positions, when I lived in Germany I went to a Mc Donald's.

To be honest with you if I could do it all over again I would have not gone into a tech field and instead got a managment degree and became a store manager for like Macy's or a grocery store of perhaps even a food chain but I would work for a Chick Fila cause they won't open on Sunday.

I mean think about it, it's a managerial position in a job field that can never be outsourced.

*shrug* So now the unskilled youth, the dropouts, the borderline mentally handicapped and the rest of the McDonald's labor pool will be living on the de facto guaranteed income provided by various state bodies.

I know the idea is "shape up, people, or you'll be replaced by a machine", but it's not 1840 any more. Those rendered unemployable will add to the superfluous population and we'll all be supporting them at whatever minimum level of living standard is deemed acceptable by society.
