In fact, NO ONE is the "voice" of Black America or blacks period.

I understand why you may be misled to believe Rev. Sharpton is “that guy” because every time a crisis kicks off in Black America, he always seems to be “that guy” who speaks on behalf of the grieving family. I’m here to tell you that he’s only “that guy” because you, white people, keep turning to him. Black Americans are increasingly detaching themselves from the antiquated idea of “Black leadership,” for we now realize that there’s no longer a need for Rev. Sharpton, the NAACP, or the National Urban League to advocate on our behalf because social media and blogs allow us to convey our own messages, unfiltered. It’s time that you realize how insulting it is to our intelligence that you think one person or a handful of organizations can speak on our collective behalf. They can’t, and it’s time that you realize that.
Say that!! Say THAT!!!

One of the many reasons why we can't stand them:

Quote:
Did you know that young protestors bum-rushed the stage of the Justice for All March because Rev. Sharpton’s National Action Network and the National Urban League wouldn’t allow them on stage without a VIP pass or press credentials? Did you know that the grieving family of a Brooklyn man who was recently gunned down by police shooed Rev. Sharpton away from the man’s funeral? You see, his popularity is diminishing quickly, and you don’t want to be on board the ship when it sinks.

Finally.

Put it out there!!!

But...according to many in this thread, he's still part of the black "collective" regardless.

Many of these unenglightened posters consider us ALL the same regardless of where we were born or how we identify culturally.

The ignorance is simply ASTOUNDING when it comes to all descendants of the African continent.

It really is.

Tragic. Rest and peace to the officers and condolences to their families. A sad reality of the harm that officers face every day working to keep us all safe.
Sue Sharpton. I said this at the ferguson debate. Sue him. Sue Jackson. Keep them so tied up in court they will quit. In this instance, they might have a case. If new town families can sue bushmaster, it's just as feasible to sue Sharpton and Jackson. Sue Blasio too. They are fueling the fires. Tie them up in court.

Use the same abused system that wastes resources by the gallon against them for a change. Bring twana Brawley in for a credible reference to his continued destructive and wanton disregard for public safety.
