This would be my first ball drop but I've heard that all the spots are completely taken by this time. Is it even worth going down there or should I do something else? I've heard there are fireworks in central park or something... dunno if that's true.
I would have went down there earlier but i worked and since there are no bathrooms and I have IBS... not a good idea.
well you could take care of nature in the NY Hilton bathroom (53rd and 6th) or the underground passageway at Rockefeller Center (50th and 6th) then head down 6th Ave to 42nd street, you might get a glimpse of the ball from Bryant Park
I got down there at 7pm. It was too late. Everything was blocked off. You literally have to be there at 12n and stay there for 12 hours to get a good spot. So..depends diapers and make sure you eat a hefty meal and pee, before going next year.
in 78 we took the IRT to Times Square (or was it 34th street and we walked) we probably left for TS at about 11:00 or so. we got right under the building (at the time i think it was called the "Allied Chemical Tower") where the ball drops
did they even block off the area back in those days? we easily merged right into a spot under the bldg
was TS maybe not so congested back then?
going back we got in at 42nd and 6th for free. a breeze
