Exclamation Seeking a sublet

Does anyone know of a sublet in Brooklyn, Bronx or Manhattan
thats a decent price............. seriously like no more than $900

I've been looking for months and its hard as all hell!
All I see are shares and I dont want to share with anyone. Selfish as it may sound but I'm concerned about my safety and I dont want to depend on anyone because at any given moment they can bolt on you, ya know.

Please help and contact me at alliemcblack@gmail.com

Thank You!

At that price you will not find anything...I would recommend scouring Mott Haven as it is just about the ONLY place you could live at that price. Put an ad in craigslist under housing wanted in the Bronx and you will get some good responses....I guarantee!

You and everyone else on this forum! You're not going to find all of your needs at a price of $900/mo. Think about it, if NYC was that cheap, everyone would be moving there!

Newtoli you CAN find places to live within close proximity to NYC..so yes it can be that cheap. AS I said...you will find what you are looking for in MOtt Haven...however with that cheap price comes all sorts of other things. =) You get what you pay for!

I'm piggy-backing the original question, hope that's ok.

For $1,200, what's the closest someone could live to the city itself (so as to have a reasonable commute to work) while living somewhere a gal could feel safe coming home at night or running out to the convenience store?

What about for $1000?

Thanks for any info. It's been over a decade since I had to look.

Friends of mine are looking in this price range in Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, Inwood, Kensington, Ditmas Park at this price range. I would add that you could also find things in Lefferts Garden, Ridgewood, Woodside, Rego Park, and Kew Gardens.

There are many other neighborhoods but these are the ones I would choose. $1000 may get you a studio and possibly $1200 will get you a one bedroom. You may have to look hard and use a broker to find something decent but it can be done.

In terms of closest commute, it depends where you are commuting to. Ditmas Park if you are near the Q train is about a 25 minute ride to Union Square - a straight shot. If you are in midtown, Sunnyside is 15 minutes on the 7 train. Jackson Heights is 12 minutes on the E or F to midtown and 22 or so minutes to Chelsea. These are times ON the train, not total commute times.

The mta.info site has a very handy trip planner. Another good way to figure it out is to search each individual train line on the mta site. They do have schedules so you can see how long the train rides are.

That's good for a studio.

A very small one, I guess.
