When fares go up, I've always been more interested in how much do I need to put on at one time to gain exact free rides via the Bonus. So for anyone too busy to do the math here you are... Nice the MTA made the new bonus correspond with even 25$ increments for gaining whole free rides.
  • 100$ = 4 Free Rides
  • 75$ = 3 Free Rides
  • 50$ = 2 Free Rides
  • 25$ = 1 Free Ride
I don't understand people's obsession with being able to empty out Metrocards completely, when you're ALWAYS Refilling it, its not like the Turnstile is going to let you through with .58 cents left on a card.

Yeah I don't get it either. When you find out, put me on. Before I started getting a transit subsidy through my place of business, I used to put $50 on a metrocard every time I got paid. So it didn't matter if I had a few cents left over on it; I still had to put more money on it anyway. I think NYC in general is a tough place to live for some and this just gives those sort of people another thing to rant over (the MTA is getting over on me).

I finally bought the refillable card (thanks to someone on this board who was talking about it-- I finally got the motivation to do it!) I am very happy with it and don't have to watch my balance, don't have to stop at those dirty and sometimes broken vending machines to add value to my card, and I also don't have to worry about losing my card because there's a system in place to report a lost card.

It's called the EasyPay Express. I recommend it.

I am not really sure what happens if I move away from NYC and never need it again, but I'm not too concerned with that right now.

It also has this cool feature where you will never pay more than $58.25 (today's price before the fare increase) for a half month. If you go over that amount it automatically converts to unlimited rides for the rest of the half month.

Henna is the card any stronger or the same as the cards that come out of the machines?
