Hello friends,

Need service done on my 96 Camry A/C system and am looking for an affordable and trustworthy shop in Brooklyn. All my A/C system needs is a vacuum and a recharge of Frion. One shop is charging me $150 but I feel thats too expensive, so any suggestions would be helpful.

You will not find less than $150. Consider yourself lucky if you don't get a mechanic who surreptitiously damages something else.
"Hey man, jou know your radiator she is leaking?"

Before you fork over a lot of money to a mechanic, consider charging your AC system yourself. They sell auto AC charging kits (consisting of an R-134a canister, a pressure guage and hose) at Advance Auto, WalMart and other auto stores. If the pressure guage is in the red after attaching it to the low pressure port and the compressor cycles on and off, then bring it to a mechanic. If not, press the button on the canister to charge it up. The canister also includes a leak sealer in addition to the refrigerant that will plug any leaks.
