a very unreliable and violent-prone young man and a very beautiful young lady are having serious issues. she is pregnant with a second child between them...there is a 18 month old girl at present..she wants nothing to do with him and has taken out a restraining order, in fact the local police often stop by to see how she is doing...he lives miles away ..anyway he now wants joint custody but contributes absolutely nothing to the well being of the mother or the current child or the upcoming child. the feeling here is that no leg to stand on on his part in fact i would say child support is at hand so the question is how to proceed what agency? what court? what procedure should be followed to (1) prevent custody and (2) get financial support out of him ...thank you for your time and attention in this matter

Custody would be handled in family court and that's the first order. If the mom is opposed to joint custody, it is unlikely the judge Wil give joint custody as there needs to be some cooperation between parents for it to work. The child support will be handled in family court as well after custody is established.
