After a most unpleasant experience in a stuffy upscale store in Riverdale, I am looking for another place to shop - can be anywhere in the Bronx but Western/Northern is better for me - I live in the Fordham-Bedford area.
I've been driving to TJ's in Scarsdale every 2 weeks, and sometimes go to the Fairway way out Boston Rd., which is too far and too big and too expensive. They also don't have that much prepared food that is to my liking.
The FoodTown is nice in Riverdale but the traffic there is a *****!!! Gourmet Market is overpriced and people with unbelievably nasty attitudes come in there - which is where I was today that had such a horrific experience!!
I'm thinking of Yonkers but don't know the area there that well.

Suggestions?
Foodtown is not in Riverdale. It is in Kingsbridge, as is Gourmet Market. I know it's listed as Riverdale, but it is not. I'm curious what other stores you shop at that are supposedly in Riverdale?
Whole Foods is in Ridge Hill, near Costco, across from Stew Leonard. WF will validate your parking in the garage, just bring your ticket with you into the store. Mrs. Green's is located close to Trader Joe's on the Scarsdale/Eastchester border, and another location on Central Avenue in Hartsdale. The only grocery stores in Riverdale are Key Food, A&P, and Ben's, none of which offers anything terribly unique, IMO.

If all goes well and as planned, there should be a bunch of them opening up soon in PiDi.
That acronym just makes me want to vomit..
I have heard people recommend Western Beef in the South Bronx. I have not yet been there myself.
