Looking to relocate to Ny or NJ. Craigslist used to be GREAT for finding places. Now it is full of scams! Every other ad saying they are missionaries in another country. asking to send money and they will send keys! So frustrating.

Know of any reputable sites?

Thank you!

Have you bothered to search the forum, since it's been asked before?

Craigslist is still pretty good - as long as you exercise common sense. I you want to avoid scams, then you can stick with paid sites like the New York Times - but those will be more expensive apartments.

My son used Padmapper when he relocated. I primarily used Zillow since it has Postlets and MLS feeds. Ultimately, after lots of personal research, I turned to a no-fee agent in Stamford. My son, ultimately needed an agent. I believe the management company of the LIC hi-rise he moved into paid the fee. But possibly he (really me) paid it. Can't remember.
