The prevailing fear of black crime in some circles looks to be stoked by poor and inaccurate reporting of those crimes. This report found that the share of black perps reported on TV news here is way higher than the share of black men actually arrested for violent crimes. If it bleeds, it leads--and it also wildly misrepresents the picture of crime in NYC. Another reason why local TV news coverage is generally lousy.

"Coverage Of Crimes Involving Black Suspects Was Substantially Higher Than Historical Arrest Rates From NYPD Statistics. In stories where race could be identified, the percentage of African-American suspects in murders, thefts, and assaults covered by WCBS, WNBC, WABC, and WNYW (Fox) was well above the percentage of African-American suspects who have been arrested for those crimes in New York City."

Its actually the exact opposite.

The liberal Zionist media always covers up the race of modern day criminals.

In most instances they dont even report black on white violent crime.

Okay, but more importantly, to me, coverage of crime generally went up as crime dropped. That was the single most interesting thing to me in the movie "Bowling for Columbine."

I like how both whites and blacks feel that the media is after them. I've heard both sides go on and on and on about this...

Sounds similar to how the media greatly over-exaggerates and perpetuates the "threat" police pose to poor male blacks...

Why would they compare (i) news story mentioned suspects (news stories are about both arrested and wanted suspects) versus (ii) only suspects arrested.

The relevant comparison is news story mentioned suspects (wanted and arrested) vs wanted and arrested suspects.

They do a whole fancy statistical analysis with confidence levels etc. without comparing actually comparable numbers.

Its probably still true that black crime is over-reported - but at least be honest about the stats and not disingenuous. Doesn't make you very confident in what they say, just sounds like an agenda.
