Actually I find NYC, and the outerboroughs especially, to be more like a "lets build a fmaily environment." You are surrounded by people all the time, housing is dense, local shops dominate, and public transportation is abundant and thorough, whereas in Florida every tends to drive everywhere, oftentimes alone, then head home to their single family subdivision and thats it. They run from a/c in their home, to A/c in their car, to a/c at the mall/work, and then back home. Not a particularly social, or family oriented environment to me.

I have a vacation home in Fl. I'm within 1/2 mile to either Publix, Winn Dixie or SweetBay, the YMCA is down the block, I can walk and the hospital is within
1/2.........people do walk and socialize here, they either walk in the early AM or in the evening. Local buses run from 6AM to 7PM.

From Nov. to March the windows are open, the pool is heated so we can swim 24/7 and the cool breezes sway the topical palm trees. Life is good,
even better when you can walk into any restaurant and get an early bird special for under $9.95 with dessert. LOL. And with more NY'ers here and many former Bronxite's........wow, we have parties and can actually get some egg creams and pretzel rods. Yes, life is good weather in the Bronx or to the South.

That sounds pretty much ideal. What part of Florida is that if you don't mind me asking.

I'm on the West Coast of Fl. North of Tampa, and about an hour North of Clearwater, plenty of NY'ers here, I've had neighbors from Hicksville, NY
Deer Park, NY and Ryer Ave. in the Bronx. Got people from Southern Blvd.
got Riverdale and the local pizza guy has a pizza place here and still has a pizza place at Hunts Point in the Bronx, he even ships Bronx water down here so the pizza tastes like NY pizza..........the water in Fl. is not so good.

Dominicks' is still there and still has the best Linguini Calamari and Stuffed Artichoke in the World!

And HSCCS - Golf course and Community should not be in the same breath. I could elaborate, but any urban studies will help far better than I....try 'counterfeit community'

A lot of NY Italians have moved to CT. I myself am 1/4 Italian. CT is now the most Italian state in the U.S.

Belmont isn't 0% Italian, but if you do see Italians living in the area, they're either really old people or Albanians who resemble the Italians.
