Gonna be heading to Philly in September and spending a day in NYC

What are some of the top things we should do?

Btw... eating great pizza is a must! And a visit to central park.

Then you answered your question, find a pizza place and go to central park.

If you can make it down to Midwood, Brooklyn, I would say go to Di Fara.

Is this your first visit? Head to the top of the Empire State Building and then visit Times Square.

Definitely #1 go see the World Trade Center site, very impressive. Check out the Wall Street scene while your down there.
Lunch in China Town or Little Italy then take the train to 34st Empire State building.
Walk up to Times Square area then over to 59th street Central Park.
Back to Penn Station to catch your train to Phily.
