There are some really fast bus routes in terms of speed, and some really slow ones. The buses in general have enough service. I take the QBx1 (comes every 17-30 minutes, and every 60 minutes at night) which is a long time, but the ride is so deceptively fast. It makes up for the wait times. In general the buses are ok unless you are in manhattan. Also the Q44 is fast, taking the QBx1 is usually faster (including wait times) since the 44 has to make way more stops and go to way more lights.

Trains are usually more crowded than buses here, rush hour or not. But this is on weekdays. The trains are still way faster, except commutting from the bronx through queens.

I cannot get over though how the 42 street and 8th Avenue station has changed for the better. Back then i would never go into that station alone

I remembered first seeing the Guardian Angels on the #5 train in early 1980 and what a novelty it was to see them. This was a few months after they formed
even in the early '90s it was kinda dangerous i remember in high school i was at 125th street about 9pm on a summer night and there was like 30 latin kings on the platform shouting their amor de rey crap
