Familiar with FIKA... Swedish... Found their coffee ok... Same with pastries... Nothing memorable, but I may give it another shot. My preferred places are Le Pain Quotidien, Maison Kayser, and Filicori Zecchini. I have a few good organic local places, and I'd like to find more of those rather than chains.
BlueBottle in Williamsburg, a wall-sized cold press with maybe 15 bottles and drains, before they siphon it off to serve behind counter. It looks like a chemistry lab. Big seating area. Hipster.
Their opening up their first east coast roasting location in Bushwick in a few months. Its going to be a large space.
I get my beans at Puerto Rican Roasting Company. Their good and affordable. Others have just as good if not better beans, but can't bring myself to pay those crazy prices per pound.
