guys

is it true that the sewage part of the water bill to one's home is 159% or more than double of what you consume (input)?

Also, are you allowed to take rain water back into the sewage? Not that I plan to since it'll be so expensive but wondering if that's legal

Thx

It's all based on consumption.

Rainwater must not be routed into septic.

Of course if you can figure a way of routing rainwater into your USAGE, say lawn watering or even judicious toilet flushing...you can save money. What costs you money is the water input through your meter.

Sewage is not measured directly, it's based on your water consumption. And yes, treating sewage is about twice as expensive as delivering potable water, at least in NYC. No good reason for you to be routing rain water towards sewage, but it really doesn't make a difference whether it goes into your own sewer or the storm drain - it all ends up at the same treatment plant very soon.
