I have mentioned the "preferential rent" thing many times.
It's just one of the newer smoke screens.

Funny how your thread received few comments.

Don't you think ?

I don't like rent control for the reason that its unfair to others. So some mook gets to pay $600 a month rent in a prime spot of Manhattan because they have lived there for 10 years while someone new the area, with the same size apartment, has to pay $2000 a month in rent.

I thought everything today was about "equality for all" and "fairness."

And thats fine - but lets stop having different rules for different people. Shall we?

Pay the rents, or move. Like the rest of the country.

I don't like inheritance laws for the reason that it's unfair to others.

The rules are not the property of a person. They belong to a unit. The person who lives in said unit benefits from the regulation only while they are there. You do understand that it isn't like Section 8 ... right ?

It was once the case that people got "priced out" because they did not fit in and could not get a regulated unit.

This was the most important social function of rent regulation.

It sounds as if you don't understand the concept of equality.
