I have been happily living in HK for the past couple months and have enjoyed living here until recently, they started doing constructions to an old structure on 41st and 11. Now every morning around 8am, you get woken up by the irritating sound of jack hammers and concrete demolishers. WTH are they building there and aren't there noise restrictions in the city? Is there a place I could file a complaint?

buy some curtains that can block out the sound.

You can file a complaint that will go straight to the recycling bin. They are building a 900 unit apt building. They are not going to stop for you.

You live in one of the biggest cities in the world and you're complaining about noise? Really? A bunch of sanitation workers woke me up this morning. Should I call the DSNY, Deblasio, Obama, GOD himself or go downstairs and yell at them? LOL! The noise ain't leaving, so if you really dislike it that much you're going to have to leave the noise.

The only thing you can really do is to file a complaint if they work off hours, which is defined as before 7am or after 6pm. However, there's always the possibility they got a variance from the city, especially if it's not a heavily residential area.

The Lincoln tunnel is right next to that area.

They're just demolishing the old Mercedes dealership. Once they're done, things should quiet down because construction is not expected to start until 2017 so you'll have a couple of years of "quiet."

I do have to warn you though and I'm sure you probably see it too from all the cranes. That area where you live is part of the greater Hudson Yards area and it is getting transformed from a former industrial area into New York's next up and coming development hotspot. There are many big projects planned for that area for the next decade or more.

This is not even considering what the city will do with the Javits CC and the PA's plan for the overhaul of the Bus Terminal.

Be ready for lots of construction for many years to come. If you want peace, this is not really the place to settle down.

Is it 514 11th Ave? Here's the demolition you're waking up to. You'll also see the proposed plan for the 1100foot tower, not yet submitted.

You're very near the bus stops for Megabus or BOLT, so an escape to other cities is still possible..

What time would you like the construction crews to start?
