Mark your calendar to steer clear of anywhere near where the Pope is going to be, namely Madison Square Garden and Central Park. I think the security measures and the crowds are going to be a nightmare.

This is not a good time at all. First off you have the UN where lots of world leaders will be in NYC. Expect wall to wall gridlock throughout Manahttan, but the Pope visit is going to be really something. I will sure stay clear away from the Pontiff.

Good thing I always try and avoid those areas anyway.

A little update -- even cell phone service could be affected in certain areas.

Large swaths of the UES, Sutton Place, UWS, Financial District, much Central Park and so forth are just going to be off limits by Wednesday evening until basically very late Sunday night or early Monday morning (not sure). Seventy-Second between Madison and Fifth is already shutting down as are parts of First and Second below 57th street.

They are telling persons if you live in or in the affected areas *any* or even all deliveries may be delayed if they can get through at all. Everything from FedEx/UPS to your local pharmacy.

It is a perfect storm of sorts; Obama, the Pope and a UN general assembly meeting all in Manhattan at once. One is bad enough but all three...

On a brighter note there will be some impressive NYPD OT racked up this week...*LOL*

This is going to be unprecedented madness. Stay home. Take the day off from work.

I like this pope, but holy cow, the timing couldn't have been worse!

Why does he have to come to NYC on the ONE day I have to go the UN building out of all 365 days of the year !!!

Why Francis, why?!

I would have loved to have gotten a ticket to see the pope, but that aside... I work a few blocks away from MSG. I'll be taking off halfway through the day. I think the ideal is not to be in the area around 6p.
