In my experience job fairs are usually a huge waste of time unless they're held by a specific company, which means the company is hiring. However, I was curious if NYC had any good ones?
I'm in the mental health field if that'd help. Although I've been considering going into public relations as some of my friends have done since it makes more sense given what my master's is in (journalism).
I know YAI holds some regularly. I wanted to go to this month's, but had a little too much work on my plate from my current jobs.
Aren't there a lot of healthcare recruiters on Linkedin? You could try connecting with them. I have no idea if that works or not; it's not my field. But it's an option and you wouldn't have to leave your home to do it.

Is that how LinkedIn is supposed to work? Just send recruiters an invite to connect? Do you follow up with a message? I have a LinkedIn, but never got much use of it. Still, I'd give it a try if it has a chance of working.
Job fairs from my experience at least in NYC are a gigantic waste of time. They are usually way overcrowded which is a sign we have a lot of unemployed people here. It is very hard to make an impression in these situations. If you are going to a job fair i'd stick to very industry specific ones, or ones that are held at a college you went to.
