Im a ready to move. I was thinking queens or long island now but I'm starting to think a bit farther away. I can move easily with the type of job I have. But a RN salary is not the same everywhere. I have been approved to rent it and I'm so thankful that someone is willing to pay 2k month for it. But living in the city doesn't seem like a option. The areas with great schools are expensive and I pay 700 a month in tuition now plus all his extracurricular activities, car insurance is more than I would like, and I am already working on paying down 1100 parking tickets. Im not struggling but I would love to be more comfortable.
For people that pick up and leave are you actually happy or do you wish you never left. I know there is no where in the city I can find affordability, safety, good schools, and ample parking?
Did anyone find something along those lines in the area (not necessarily nyc)?
Parking tickets could make interesting wallpaper for your next place. Lots of NYC nostalgia.
What saves me from parking tickets is living in a 3-story townhouse where tenants park on the front lawn. They use curbcuts and then drive s.l.o.w.l.y down the sidewalk to get to the lawn. There's no more lawns left, so that aspect is butt-ugly. Landlords charge for the privilege.
If you stay here, try to rent a place that comes with a dedicated space. Even if you have to rent the space, if it saves a ticket or two, it pays for itself. I see those in the outer-outer borough neighborhoods.
A neighbor approached me recently offering me money to park on the last remaining piece of front yard, but I'd rather plant a few flowers there, so.. no. But I was tempted. So you can ask around in neighborhoods like that, where you see cars parked under peoples' front windows.

Yes i meant 1100 I live in a area where most of the block is a no park zone. I tried to fight 5 of them because there is no sign.
I have visited a lot of places I don't have a month to just stay somewhere.
Well i defiantly know manhattan isn't for me. Im just trying to decide if I should move back to queens or the L.I area or suck it up and move out the city.
