Horseshoe counters makes me more certain that it is the Chanin Building because it would fit with Art Deco as Mobil would have been more streamlined.

I'm a bit confused about the name. I cannot imagine a fried chicken joint billing itself as a DELI.

Me neither but that's all I recall my mother telling me. I took her word for it and never questioned her more when I could have, although I'm not sure she really would have remembered more than that. It was the late 50's and by the time she told me the story it was more than 30 years later. I often wonder if her dementia started in little ways decades before. Anyway, it was a deli of sorts with lots of horseshoe counters, so she must have had the name wrong. I'll check the library thanks.
