Just an overall opinion poll on the Subway in terms of:

- Reliability
- Safety
- Appearance
- Coverage
- Rail cars
- Stations
- Price
- Management
- Train schedule

People in other cities are always whining about how their subway system isn't as good as NYC. Just wondering if NYC likes its Subway as much as everyone else.. or if its just one of those "grass is greener" things.

It's vastly overrated.

The system can be cleaner. But other than that I have no complaints. I can only remember 1 time this year my train was taken out of service during my daily work commute, and that just happened about 2-3 weeks ago. Other than that, the A train keeps a pretty consistent schedule. 6:45 AM its always there at my stop during the week.

New York wouldn't be what it is without it. It moves millions of people a day 24 hours a day for 2.75 a ride. Could it be better? Sure but it's pretty close to it's limit some hours of the day. Best way to get around by far in many areas of the city.

Although it is old and not that clean, it is very convenient as it runs 24/7 and makes it easy to get around the city by public transportation.

It's amazingly convenient and the best transit system all things considered in America. It could be cleaner and in better shape, but based off of being in other cities, I'm more than thankful for it.

Outside of America, I don't know. I'd like to try Tokyo, Hong Kong, and a few systems in Europe, but with 24/7, express service, and the number of places that the NYC system can take you, I am happy.

I haven't used the subway in a year. Cheaper and usually faster to drive, if you know your way around and travel at the right times (luckily I don't need to park in Manhattan during the day). I find the subway slow, unreliable, impossibly disgustingly hot in the summer, dirty, smelly, etc. And $2.75 a swipe? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? That's why whenever I go into Manhattan now, I drive. So so so much cheaper for me and how my schedule works (coming from Queens or way uptown).

It's the most miserable thing about nyc for me. I moved to specifically limit my time on the subway and it's still the worst part of my every day.

Crowded conditions can be dangerous and appear to be from one of the trains in India vs. 'The best city in the world.' The stations and subways are absolutely filthy and I can only imagine when the city's increasing homeless population decide to make it their homes this winter.

The worst part? There's no chance they get better. I wish they'd increase fares to $4/5 and actually improve the system - but any increases they make now and in the future will simply go to the workers bloated salaries and pensions. MTA has already laid expectations for the service to get worse.
