I enjoy to collect vintage signage from New York City, and I recently stumbled upon this old highway sign from Queens.

Made of steel, the sign I believe dates back to the 1950s and guided motorists to the parkway. There are mounting holes on it, and it is likely it was suspended from a twin mast-arm setup. Something like this one...

I've been collecting for about five years, and I have to say this is my greatest find to date. Definitely a rare piece that you do not see everyday.

Very cool. If you have pics of other signs you've collected, I think there are a few of us that would appreciate seeing them.

The old signs made like only Nassau/Suffolk was Long Island, even when you were already on the physical island.
Must of confused the out of towners big time.
More modern signs say Eastern Long Island, whereas the older signs would simply say Long Island.
