That said. Many of the traditionally most prestigious neighborhoods in New York seem to have gone downmarket in recent years.

Hmmm not sure since I always felt Manhattan is not that clean, always busy and attracts many tourists and can't forget about our working people who prefer to work in Manhattan than any other borough (because the companies pay more), lol. I would choose Lenox Hill...my taste is obviously expensive.

What is so great about TriBaCa? It is sandwiched between Holland Tunnel and Chinatown, super expensive too. Can someone enlighten me?
