They are calling 325 people this year.

My guess is they call up to 1000 this year, maybe a little more because of people who get DQ'd or fail something for whatever reason or some people don't take the job.

Hopefully you're right Chris. So at final processing I'm guessing they will tell you to report for training July 18?

Just went for orientation today, scheduled for medical July 5th. The director of HR said that she's hiring 327 this year, maybe as many as 340, since she just promoted 30 San workers. Usually she hires 500 per year, but she said there wasn't alot of retirements this year.

Is it safe to say that once one gets called for final processing, the next call should be you giving in your two weeks notice?

Not until you leave with the slip to report to Floyd Bennett Field that's when you give your notice.

This is how I felt that day!

At final processing you will fill out a ton of paperwork , think new hire type stuff... Tax forms, HR forms etc....they'll photograph you for you work ID, and they'll give u a slip of paper with your first day reporting time and location (0600 at Floyd Bennet field)... After you leave final processing then it's safe to give two weeks to your job.... It's a really nice feeling when you see the ID and stuff... Happened to be on my birthday, nice little gift, they let me go first lol

I have to give 30 day notice to my job. Is the time span between getting the slip and starting date 30+ days?

uh - who cares if you don't give your current job 30 day notice. If you don't screw up royally during orientation at DSNY, you will never go back!

Yes after everything is complete and they have accepted your paperwork and license that's when they offer the job and will tell you to give notice and you have the slip to report. Oh I almost forgot you take the picture for your ID but you won't get that til FBF that's when you will get your badge.
