I applied just for the FU*K of it. Even though the neighborhood lacks character.

Fuller story here: Live In a Upper East Side Luxury Rental From $607/Month - Affordable Housing Wire - Curbed NY

Important take away points:

Half of the "affordable" units are reserved for CB8 residents.

Since this is a 421a property it could be that these affordable units have a sunset; that is after a certain period that requirement goes away. Though IIRC recent legislation could mean the units will fall under RS laws, not sure...

Amazing, make $22,218 to $24,200 per year and live in Manhattan luxury for only $607/month. Who the heck makes only $22k/year? I made more than that in the 1990s doing data entry.

Oh I don't know. It isn't Lexington, Park, Madison or Fifth on 92nd that is true. But you still are on the UES/Yorkville in a new building. Persons living just down the street in Ruppert Towers certainly have no problems with the area "lacking character" nor does anyone trying to get into that development.

You've got WF down Third. The 92nd Street Y is just a block away and CP several further. Two or three new buildings are coming up in that area and of course the SAS will be open by this time next year. That already has brought huge changes to both Third and Second Avenues in this area.

Exactly. Where's the middle/moderate income housing??? All these developments for the $20k-$30k income ranges.
