I have a new roommate. He's been here for about two months. One thing I have noticed is that his footsteps are very strong and annoying.

I have no idea how to approach the situation without being rude.
Have you guys dealt with this? How would you talk to him?

Does he wear shoes in the Apt?
If so tell him you have a no shoe rule inside the apartment.

Just tell him in a polite way that he has a "heavy" way of walking. To just be a little more considerate. It's not the end of the world.

Agree with NooYowkur81said. Just tell him, Hey man you probably don't realize it but you have a bit of a heavy step.
OR Luckily for your its Holiday time. Get him a nice plush pair of slippers.

barefoot is the worst, it makes a terrible stomping noise.
do you have people under you? if so, tell him, do not walk so hard, the tenants will complian.
plus its annoying to loisten to.
I would hate it also.

Well, you could hobble him like that chick did in Misery.

Or, in the alternate, you could talk to your roomie in a firm but non-confrontational manner.

If he's walking around barefoot and it sounds like stomping, he probably has Flintstones Feet (flat feet). Tell him that his barney rubble feet are keeping you away and make a joke about it (are you able to joke about it!? I'd be so chary living with someone I couldn't be able to bring such issues up with like this). Like some other poster said, buy him some slippers (they probably do help)? It could be 1000 worse, he could have a baby that farts, screams, and poops!
