I can't imagine what these people are going through. I'm on the UES and the 6 train is running on express service from Grand Central to 125 at; many stops closed down for this long weekend. Can't even imagine how people will deal with this for such a long stretch.

they will go green, and paddle across the river, or GOD forbid.. buy cars.

Cars aren't a necessity, especially when you live in the NYC Metropolitan area with mass transit. I'd rather deal with a longer commute as a result of a line shut down than buy a car and have to put constant repairs into it just to keep it as a quality vehicle for more than five years.
