Yes, why shouldn't they raise their own pay if we're dumb enough to keep supporting them either way?

The public should vote on this

Politicians are worse then many locked up. At least some of those people steal to survive. These people steal to have richer lives.

Top government officials make lots of money, and that's news to no one.
You're half right, these city council members are just a bunch of scrubs and not even close to top officials

And looks they passed this on a Friday afternoon to bypass the news cycle, VERY SHADY - this needs to make the front pages on Monday and people should be protesting

That's why people go into politics -- you can lie, cheat, steal, and enrich yourself and your cronies and it's all legal.

I heard the phenomenon of the smart criminals going into government has been going on longer in Europe but it's happening here as well. Look at the Clintons -- they've accumulated a net worth of $100M+ selling access. It's not like anyone is paying them millions b/c they're insightful -- they're just selling access and peddling influence.

Mark my words: If DeBlasio has the gumption to veto this farce of totalitarianism, I will give him credit and throw my full support behind him on this issue.

History has shown that no corrupt system was ever "voted out" by the electorate.
Voting is the nonsensical system that keeps them in office.

Support my plan then. My plan has worked many times throughout history.

NYC isn't much different than Russia. You only vote for one party and never 2nd guess them. Taxes will go up everywhere and young people and middle class will have to pick up the tab and rich people just get richer. Nothing has changed and nothing will.
