$78k is not considered a alot in Manhattan. Students out of law school start out at $150k.
Analysts at financial firms start out at $70-$90k.

My point is these are starting salaries out of college.. After 3-4 years, many of these college grads are making well into the 6 figures.

The above is rare. Only top law students at the top 6 law schools get into BIGLAW where you start out at $160k. And many of them hate it, burn out after a few years and jump ship.

Many law school graduates graduate with a pile of debt and never land an actual job in law.

That seems a little higher than I'd expect for an entry leval (digital) marketing job...but for 2016 in NYC, probably not.

Edit:I just looked up the national average salary for "digital marketing analysts " and it's $65,000. NYC would be higher for COL so that $78K would be about right.

And the $70Kish starting salaries for "digital marketing" would go up too. I don't know if marketing jobs would ramp up to the $100k range within 4 years post college but maybe by the late 20s that could be their salary range.

I remember talking to a coworker and we were commenting on how this guy was promoted into a sales role, from a client service analyst, at a pretty young age. She commented on how this young guy would be making "six figures" and she didn't get into the six figure range until 28. I think he was 24 or maybe 25. This particularly company doesn't (usually) promote from client service to sales without being a client service analyst for 4 or 5 years. The path was typically client service (2-3 years), senior client service (2 years) then that's when they'd consider you for a sales role- which pays much more because of commission.

Not necessarily. I know many who were the pioneers of Williamsburg and they are gritty renegade musicians all of the way. Very talented very creative and popular in the underground scene. Hipster is such a broad term now everything from trustafarians to bike messengers get thrown into hipster now. But yeah those types you mentioned also exist of course.
