Default NYC area internet outages

is anyone else getting only intermittent service on their internet the last few days? I am, and apparently many of my other Queens neighbors are as well, as evidenced by a recent thread on Astorians - Queens, Astoria NY, Long Island City . How widespread is this problem?

For me it's been coming and going since Friday. I have Time Warner cable.

You too? Me, too! On the Upper West Side. I spoke to Verizon's gal in the Phillipines, and she indicated that the problem was with me, not them.

Ironically, the whole time I was on the phone with her, my connectivity was perfect. A minute after I hung up, it became spotty. If I'm finishing a task and the connectivity is down, I pick up the phone and dial my own number, let it ring busy until I'm ready to turn off the modem for a while. It does seem to help. Go figya!

It's a bit of a pain, isn't it?

Turns out it was a problem with earthlink, so if you had the Time Warner/earthlink package this could account for the problems.

I don't, but my problems seem to have blown over, too.

Thanks, Henna.

(And your reply? "Henna time." )
Sorry. Sometimes I can't help myself.
